Retinal vascular anomalies are a heterogeneous group consisting of congenital and acquired lesions. The visual prognosis varies in wide range from asymptomatic to advanced vision loss according the location lesion. Diagnosis is made by fundus examination, fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography. It may be associated with systemic diseases require detailed examination. This review includes coloboma, retinal cavernous hemangioma, arterio-venous malformation, capillary hemangioblastoma. important clinical diagnostic features, relationships, current treatment strategies these emphasized light literature.

Retinal capillary hemangioma in von Hippel-Lindau disease.

von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is caused by a mutation in the VHL gene, resulting in the functional disorder in VHL-encoded protein (pVHL). Recent advances in experimental and clinical studies on VHL gene/protein and VHL disease have provided novel concepts in molecular pathology and clinical managements. pVHL plays a critical role in the regulation of hypoxia inducible factor (HIF)-dependent ...

CLINICAL CASE Man carrier of the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) gene, with long-onset loss of vision in left eye. He had a retinal capillary hemangioma (HCR) and diffuse cystic edema in posterior pole. The systemic study revealed bilateral kidney tumors. Laser photocoagulation was performed which produced a subretinal and vitreous hemorrhage that required vitrectomy. DISCUSSION Retinal capillary hem...

Retinal hemangioblastoma in von Hippel-Lindau disease: a clinical and molecular study.

PURPOSE To assess the natural history of retinal manifestations in von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease and to study the genotype-phenotype correlation. METHODS Data concerning 103 patients with VHL retinal manifestations and 108 patients without VHL retinal manifestations were extracted from the French VHL database. A retrospective study was performed by questionnaire. Patients were classified in...

[An optic nerve tumor in von Hippel-Lindau disease, masquerading as a retinal hemangioma].

CLINICAL CASE A 35-year-old man with a family history of von Hippel-Lindau disease was diagnosed to have two retinal hemangiomas in the right eye and another in the left eye. The hemangiomas were treated with cryotherapy and laser photocoagulation respectively. Despite apparent good resolution of the retinal lesions, progressive visual loss was observed. An MRI was then performed and showed bil...

Retinal vascular proliferation as an ocular manifestation of von Hippel-Lindau disease.

OBJECTIVES To describe the features, natural history, and management of an unusual manifestation of ocular von Hippel-Lindau disease in the form of fine vascular proliferation. METHODS Case series of 14 patients with definite or presumed von Hippel-Lindau disease. RESULTS Retinal vascular proliferation consisting of fine superficial vessels was found in 16 eyes of 14 patients with von Hippe...
